Current beekeeping challenges call for all beekeepers to have a solid understanding of Varroa mite biology and management approaches.

Get up close and personal with the bees in the “Working Your Colonies” course. This course is for novice beekeepers who already have a colony and/or have taken the previous course, and want to develop their beekeeping skills further.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about and practice many aspects of what is necessary to get the colony started and keep it healthy and thriving.

This class is perfect for the hobby and sideline beekeeper and for other individuals interested in learning the basics of working with wax.

This course is a complement to our Queen Rearing Techniques Short Course that we offer in the spring we will dive deeper into breeding schemes and honey bee genetics along with the various races and breeder lines.

We are very excited to be offering our lecture-based “Queen Rearing Basics” Course at the Laidlaw Facility at UC Davis.

The course will include lectures and hands-on exercises This course is perfect for those who have some beekeeping experience and would like to move on to the next step of rearing their own queens or maybe even trying their luck at bee breeding.

Instructors:
